Residential Services

SAINT MARGARET’S HOSPICE FOR CHILDREN WITH SEVERE DISABILITIES, established in 1999 with the goal of providing protection and nurturing care, adapted to the diagnosis and specific needs of children with severe disabilities who are separated from their parents, per the foster care proceedings and the laws in force.

During the foster care placement measure, the centre provides a safe environment coupled with emotional and psychological support, housing, social and medical assistance, rehabilitation and social, family and school integration.

Beneficiaries are 17 children with severe neurological diseases and associated comorbidities, aged between 0-14 years old.

Activities provided to the beneficiaries:

Specialized personal care tailored for children with severe disabilities (daily personal hygiene and feedings including pre-approved menus and meal plans, special diets created by a nutrition specialist taking into consideration the age, developmental stage and diagnosis of each child),

Permanent supervision, companionship and help ensured by the specialized care staff,

Specialized health care subject to each child’s specific needs: periodical medical assessment, appropriate treatment, immunization programme, treatment for recurrent health problems, access to other medical services when needed: dental, ENT, ophthalmology, surgery, etc.

Three warm meals per day and 2 healthy and nutritious snacks, prepared in house and served in a designated area at the hospice,

Social assistance: taking the necessary steps required for ensuring the proper protection of children with severe disabilities under the laws in force, maintaining or re-establishing the relationship with the family (parents, siblings, other relatives), friends, other people the children are attached to, counseling and support for parents/legal guardians and promotion of family reintegration,

Rehabilitation activities per each child’s specific needs and diagnosis: physiotherapy and massage, sensory stimulation, psycho-motor therapy, manual skills and abilities, training of personal autonomy (self-service skills training), reorganization and restructuring of the perceptual-motor learning,

Leisure and socializing activities,

Non-formal education.

Specialized personnel: Centre coordinator, social worker, 3 general and family practitioners, 9 trained nurses, 7 caregivers, 2 social parents, 2 physiotherapists, psychologist.

Day Care Services

ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT CENTRE FOR THE REINTEGRATION OF CHILDREN WITH PSYCHOSOCIAL PROBLEMS, established in 2005 with the aim to increase the quality of life of children who are experiencing various difficulties (psychosocial, medical, financial) that hinder their participation in the educational system and social and school integration.

The beneficiaries are 50 children, preschoolers and students aged between 3 and 15 years old facing high risk of school dropout due to psychosocial problems manifested through behavioral disorders, learning difficulties, speech and language problems, reading and writing difficulties, ADHD, anxiety symptoms manifested in the school environment, school and educational process challenges. Moreover, the parents and guardians of children beneficiate from receiving counseling and support sessions at the centre.

Activities provided to the beneficiaries:

Educational activities and the development of independent life skills and abilities,

Educational and vocational guidance, complementary services provided aside from the services offered by the school where the child is enrolled,

Psychological counseling for the child and family,

Art-therapy,

Social integration/reintegration therapies,

Extracurricular activities,

Social counseling and support for parents/legal guardians.

SAINT MICHAELS’ DAYCARE CENTRE FOR THE REHABILITATION OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM, was established in 2010 to support and assist the children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) to overcome various difficulties and to prevent institutionalization and facilitate their social integration.

Beneficiaries: 20 children with autism spectrum disorders aged between 3 and 14 years old.

Activities provided to the beneficiaries:

Activities that train and develop independent life skills and abilities,

Physiotherapy and massage,

Learning based therapies,

Socializing activities,

Counseling, guidance, information and support for parents.

Specialized personnel: Centre coordinator, 2 psychologists, medicinal bath therapy trained medical nurse.

SAINT CHRISTOPHER’S DAY CARE CENTRE FOR CHILDREN was established in 2005 following several social projects carried out in the county of Arges, developed in partnership with local authorities. Its mission is to provide aid, counseling and support to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, at risk, who face a myriad of social challenges including institutionalization and school dropout.   and face risk of institutionalization, school dropout and truancy.

The beneficiaries are 40 children aged between 6 and 16, who come from socially and economically disadvantaged families resided in the town of Curtea de Arges and other neighboring localities found in rural areas.

Activities provided to the beneficiaries:

Educational and tutoring activities,

Activities focused on independent life skills and abilities

School and vocational orientation services,

Art-therapy,

Leisure and socializing activities,

Psychological counseling for the child and family,

Social counseling and information for the parents/legal guardians.
